F2 Goldendoodle – Choosing your Goldendoodle Generations

Cutest Puppies ever

The F2 Goldendoodle or the second generation of Goldendoodle is a product of crossbreeding two  F1 Goldendoodles.

Here’s how the geneticists/ dog breeders explain the breeding equation for the F2 Goldendoodle:

 F1 Goldendoodle +   F1 Goldendoodle =  F2 Goldendoodle

The F2 Goldendoodle produces a puppy with  50% Golden Retriever & 50% Poodle genetic make-up. Historically, the dog breeders thought that this crossbreeding will produce a consistent “teddybear-like” puppy but this is not always the case. Like the F2B Goldendoodle, coat type varies still. The coat will be the extreme fluffy-Teddybear like coat, loose and wavy coat and the straighter coats (which is more of a Golden retriever part) and less of the shedding.  Color of the coats may range from cream, champagne or golden.

Though several dog breeders warn that most of the Golden Retriever characteristic will manifest in F2 Goldendoodle and suggests an allergy test when getting a puppy of this generation.

Sizes of the  F2 Goldendoodle are either:  Medium (around 35-50 pounds) and Standard (55+ pounds  or slightly bigger).
